Virginia “Ginnie” Bridges

Virginia B. “Ginnie” Vandivier Bridges, 86, of Franklin, Indiana, passed away peacefully at her home on July 14, 2023. She was born on September 17, 1936, in Franklin, Indiana, to the late Robert “Fuzzy” Vandivier and Elizabeth Adele Burke.

Ginnie dedicated her life to the field of education, leaving a lasting impact on countless individuals. She received her education at Franklin High School and furthered her knowledge and passion for learning at Franklin College and IUPUC. Her teaching career began at Center Grove Schools prior to the birth of her daughter. She then returned to teaching at Northwood Elementary for one year prior to the opening of Custer Baker Middle School where she taught the remainder of her career. Ginnie was known for her unwavering commitment to her students and her genuine care for their well-being.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Elizabeth “Libby” Bridges (Mark), stepdaughters, Julia Mudd (Charles), and Karen Dees. Ginnie was also adored by her grandchildren, Mitchell Bridges (Ashley) and Molly Brown (John), Austin Mudd(Molly), as well as her great-grandchildren, Daylen Dees, Kyleigh Sears, Killian Bridges, and Jameson Bridges.

Ginnie was reunited in heaven with her beloved husband, William “Bill” Bridges, who preceded her in death on June 28, 2023. Together, they shared a lifetime of love and cherished memories.

In accordance with Ginnie’s wishes, the family will hold no formal memorial services. However, they kindly request that donations be made to the Johnson County Humane Society or Johnson County Animal Shelter in Ginnie’s memory. By doing so, her legacy of compassion and love for animals will continue to be honored.
