Duke Energy gives grants to communities devastated by storms

The Duke Energy Foundation is awarding $170,000 in grants to nonprofit organizations providing support for those impacted by devastating storms that moved across Indiana in late June and early July.

The grants will support a wide array of assistance programs for individuals and families in need, as well as ongoing restoration efforts including clearing debris and fixing damaged infrastructure.

The following organizations will receive grants: American Red Cross of Indiana; Salvation Army Indiana Division; United Way of Monroe County; Clay County Emergency Food Pantry; Putnam County Community Foundation; Rediscover Clinton (Vermillion County).

Midas locations team up with law enforcement

July is National Vehicle Theft Prevention Month and area Midas locations have teamed up with local law enforcement to etch and paint residents catalytic converters with their license plate numbers for free. According to police, etching or painting your VIN number on your catalytic converter has been shown to be an effective deterrent for some thieves.

Franciscan Health receives award

Franciscan Health hospitals in Indianapolis and Lafayette have received the American College of Cardiology’s NCDR Chest Pain-MI Registry Gold Performance Achievement Award for 2023.

The award recognizes Franciscan Health’s commitment and success in implementing a higher standard of care for heart attack patients. It also signifies that the Indianapolis and Lafayette East hospitals have reached an aggressive goal of treating these patients to standard levels of care.

To receive the Award, both Franciscan Health Indianapolis and Franciscan Health Lafayette East demonstrated sustained achievement in the Chest Pain-MI Registry for two consecutive years (2021 and 2022) and performed at the top level for specific performance measures.

Indiana American Water employee promoted

Indiana American Water announced that it has named Kari Britto vice president of operations.

Britto will oversee all operations within Indiana American Water’s service districts. Her responsibilities will include leading operations at the company’s treatment, distribution and field service operations facilities across the state. She will be headquartered at Indiana American Water’s corporate office in Greenwood.

Britto joined Indiana American Water in 2009 and has held several roles with the company.

The Aspire Legislation Matters series is an opportunity for member investors to spend time with elected officials. The program features a discussion about public policy issues and specific legislation. Pre-registration for this event closes at 5 p.m. on Aug. 3, tickets are $35 per person.
