Rex Lee Snyder, 85 of Franklin, IN passed away on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at Morning Pointe of Franklin, Indiana. He was born on October 25, 1937, in Burnettsville, IN to the late Earl Leon Snyder and Ima Belle (Shuey) Snyder. After dating three short months, he married Carol (Wilson) Snyder on November 1, 1958, at Onward Christian Church in Onward, IN, she survives.

Rex was a 1954 graduate of Burnettsville High School in Burnettsville, IN. He then served in the U.S. Army from May of 1956 to April of 1958 where he was stationed at Port Whittier Alaska. He later went on to follow in his father’s footsteps and went to barber school in Indianapolis, IN in 1959. After barbering at Grissom Air Force Base, he purchased his own shop in Logansport, IN. Rex barbered for over 40 years before retiring in 2008. After retiring, he moved with his wife to Franklin, IN to be able to spend more time with his family. He was a member of the Franklin Elks Lodge as well as Hurricane Community Church in Franklin. Growing up, he loved playing basketball. As an adult he enjoyed bowling, playing euchre, and golfing, once making a hole in one. He had a wonderful sense of humor and a contagious laugh.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years Carol (Wilson) Snyder of Franklin, IN, two sons, Mark Snyder (Richeal) of Flowery Branch, GA and Rodney Snyder (Jill) of Franklin, IN, grandchildren Natalie Black (Kevin) of Franklin, IN, Luke Snyder (Emily) of Franklin, IN, Logan Snyder of Indianapolis, IN, Brody Snyder (Meshelemiah) of Flowery Branch, GA, Riley Snyder (Christina) of Flowery Branch, GA, five great grandchildren, Ryann and Nora Black, Mara and Mac Snyder, and Miah Snyder, and another great granddaughter expecting to arrive in early 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Clifford Dean “Skip” Snyder, and his two sisters, Maxine Pownell and Wilma Leming.

Pastor Dan McLaughlin will conduct a service on Saturday, July 29, 2023, at 2PM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN and will be live-streamed at www.swartzmortuary.com. Friends may call Saturday, July 29, 2023, from 12 Noon until service time at the mortuary. Burial with military honors being conducted by the United States Army Honor Guard and Franklin American Legion Post 205 Honor Guard will follow the service at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, IN.
