Franklin College raises $4.1M, exceeds annual goal

Donors contributed more than $4.1 million to Franklin College during the 2022-23 fundraising year, its most successful in recent history.

The fiscal year ended June 30, and during the 12 months preceding that date, donors gave $4,145,513, exceeding college officials’ goal of $4 million. That total includes pledges, planned gifts, cash donations and real estate gifts, according to a Franklin College news release.

The money includes $766,396 in donations to the Franklin Fund, exceeding the $700,000 goal. The Franklin Fund provides students with financial aid and funds for ongoing learning opportunities. The November #GRIZTuesday campaign raised more than $178,000 for Franklin College athletics, exceeding the $100,000 goal by 78%. In the spring, the 11th annual #GivetoGRIZ campaign raised more than $308,000, exceeding its goal by 37% as the most successful 24-hour campaign drive in the college’s history, according to the release.

The success of the fundraisers is impressive given the decrease in philanthropy across the country, Dana Cummings, Franklin College’s vice president for institutional advancement, said in the release.

“Franklin College has had another phenomenal year,” she said. “Particularly during this period of a downward turn in philanthropy, it is even more remarkable that Franklin College donors continue to support us so generously. Their gifts directly impact our students in many ways, including scholarships, financial aid, expanded academic programs, the implementation of new technologies and so much more.”
