Tamara “Tammie” Michele Jones

Tamara “Tammie” Michele Jones passed away peacefully on August 6, 2023, from sepsis and complications of diabetes. Tammie was born in Franklin, IN, on September 23, 1973. She was an incredibly kind and loving daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin and friend who always saw the best in everyone.

The daughter of Robert (Bob) Jones and Brenda Jones (nee Hamilton), deceased, Tammie is survived by her loving sister, Holli Jones of Silver Spring, MD; her niece, Violet, and nephew, Reed; cousins, Jack Hamilton and Jan Hamilton; the many Jones aunts, uncles and cousins; and her boyfriend, Jasean Morris of Folkston, GA.

Tammie graduated from Lakota High School in West Chester, OH, and attended a culinary arts technical program at D. Russel Lee. After high school, she worked for many years at Kroger on Tylersville and later at the Hawthorn Glen Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Middletown, OH.

While Tammie was disabled with cerebral palsy, she always lived life to the fullest. She participated in the Job and Friendship Clubs in Butler County, OH, engaged in regular social activities, and loved to travel. Her trips to Gatlinburg, Chicago, New York City, Vermont, along with cruises to Cozumel and Vancouver, were some of the best times of her life. She also participated in Special Olympics and therapeutic recreation softball. She loved helping family, friends, and neighbors, and she adored children. A highlight of her life was becoming a doting aunt to Violet in 2013 and Reed in 2016. She also had a special relationship with her cousin, Jack Hamilton, and loved spending time with his family.

Tammie was preceded in death by her mother, Brenda Jones; her grandparents, Lawrence and Virginia Hamilton, from Franklin, IN; her grandparents, Bess and Orville Jones, from Indianapolis, IN; and her great aunt and uncle, Patty and Johnny Afflerbach, from Greenwood, IN.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, August 11, from 4 p.m.-6 p.m. at Swartz Mortuary in Franklin, IN. A memorial service officiated by the Revered Shan Rutherford will be held Saturday, August 12, at 9 AM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN and will be live-streamed at www.swartzmortuary.com . Burial will bel at Hopewell Cemetery in Franklin, IN.
