Betty Lou Clark

Betty Lou (Hickey) Clark, age 93 passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, August 13, 2023 at Morning Pointe Assisted Living Community in Franklin. She was a longtime resident of Trafalgar.

Betty was born May 12, 1930 in Morgan County, to her parents, the late Andrew Scott and Ethel (Johnson) Hickey. She was a 1948 graduate of Morgantown High School and went on attend Indiana Business College. Betty retired in 1990 from Indian Creek Middle School, where she worked as a secretary for over 24 years. Prior to that, she worked for Stokley VanCamp, Northern Indiana Utilities and Farm Bureau.

Betty was a lifelong member of the Morgantown United Methodist Church, where she was a former Sunday School Teacher and would also share her musical talents by playing the marimba at church. Other memberships include, Memorial Fund Chairman for the Breast Cancer Survivor Association, Merrill Henry’s All Girl Marimba Band, Johnson Country

4-H and a former Girl Scout Leader. In her spare time, Betty enjoyed cake decorating and sewing, but must of all, she loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by her loving husband of 72 years, Maurice D. Clark, whom she married on May 31, 1951 in Morgantown. Betty is also survived by her children, Debbie (Greg) Wood of Trafalgar and Ron (Pat) Clark of Martinsville; grandchildren, Molly (Chris Bibbs) Clark of West Valley City, Utah and Ben (Emily) Wood of Northfield, Minnesota; and 2 great grandchildren, Nora Bibbs and Isla Wood.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents and cousin, Beezer Johnson.

A funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday August 18th, at Meredith – Clark Funeral Home Cremation and Personalization Center located at 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, August 17th at the funeral home. Burial will be at East Hill Cemetery Morgantown.
