Sen Todd Young to speak at Franklin College for Constitution Day

Franklin College will welcome Sen. Todd Young to campus as the Constitution Day speaker.

The event is Sept. 11 at noon in the Branigin Room of the Napolitan Student Center. This event is free and open to the public, though registration is required.

Young will be the first speaker in the college’s 2023-24 Convocation Lecture Series, as he addresses the crowd on “Franklins In Our Midst.”

Inspired by Benjamin Franklin’s example, he will discuss how Americans can unleash a new generation of innovators to uphold the United States Constitution. Following the lecture, a short Q&A will take place, according to an event announcement from the college.

Young, a Johnson County resident, is a Navy veteran who currently serves on the Senate Committees on Finance; Foreign Relations; Commerce, Science and Transportation; and Small Business and Entrepreneurship.

The lecture is part of Franklin College’s tradition of hosting an annual Convocation Lecture Series that promotes the institution’s ideals. The college seeks to uphold a set of values that enhances the community and sustains personal, spiritual and professional growth for a lifetime. The college values people of integrity, a commitment to inclusivity, a culture of intellectual curiosity, the drive for innovation and creativity and the spirit of community, the announcement from the college says.
