Boys soccer

Trojans sweep tournament

Class 3A No. 16 Center Grove dominated the Trojan Classic on Saturday, posting 3-0 victories over No. 19 Elkhart and 10th-ranked Castle. Matheus Gubert and Ely Detty each had two goals on the day for the Trojans (5-0), while Neikos Whitney and Charlie Habig added one apiece.

Girls soccer

Warriors crush Bears

Host Whiteland rolled to a 9-0 rout of Lawrence Central on Saturday. Emma Gill, Alexa LaPorte and Rhianna Hardy each scored twice for the Warriors, while Addison Emberton posted the shutout.

Volleyball

Center Grove prevails in four

Class 4A No. 10 Center Grove came away with a 25-12, 25-18, 23-25, 25-22 win over Class 3A No. 7 New Castle on Saturday.

Lancers split in Henryville

Edinburgh won two of its four matches in a round-robin tournament at Henryville, beating Hauser and the host Hornets while taking losses to Paoli and North Harrison. MacKenzie Bieker collected 31 kills for the Lancers, while Kyah Streeval totaled 97 assists.

Braves sweep Vikings

Faith Wiseman’s 16 kills led Indian Creek to a 25-14, 25-9, 25-11 win over West Vigo. Grayson Burkett had 26 assists and four aces for the Braves (4-0, 1-0 WIC), who also got seven kills each from Gabie Francis and Mattie Key.

Boys tennis

Woodmen take two wins at home

Greenwood won two of three matches at its invitational, defeating Roncalli and Triton Central but falling to Terre Haute North. Carter Chatham went 3-0 at No. 2 singles for the Woodmen, who also got two singles wins from Noah Paswater and two doubles points from Nick Pruett.

Warriors roll to home sweep

Whiteland blanked visiting Linton-Stockton, 5-0. Spencer Gillespie, Carson Baumann and Jeremiah Hurt were all 6-0, 6-0 singles winners for the Warriors (3-1), while Chase and Kai Koester won in straight sets at first doubles and Gavin Stubbe and Isaac Phegley did the same in the No. 2 spot.

Grizzly Cubs third in home tourney

Franklin placed third in its own invitational, losing to Greenfield-Central and Heritage Christian but posting a 3-2 win over Mooresville. Brady Tucker took part in a pair of doubles victories for the Grizzly Cubs.

Girls golf

Trojans finish in second

Center Grove’s Red team took second in the Trojan Classic on Saturday at Hickory Stick, shooting 306 to finish 10 shots behind Carmel. Camille Short and Magnolia Miller both turned in rounds of 74 for the Trojans, with Lexi Stuart (76) and Ellie Adkisson (82) rounding out the scoring.

Lexi Ray shot a 72 as Franklin was fourth in the team standings with a 312. The Grizzly Cubs also got a 78 from Kara Heuchan and 81s from Addie Livorno and Addi Bright.

The Trojans’ White team was sixth at 334, led by an 80 from Abby Rich. London Dodson (83), Maren Pfeifle (84) and Zoe Land (87) followed close behind.

Cross country

Braves dominate invitational

Indian Creek’s boys and girls were both victorious at their invitational on Saturday. Libby Dowty won convincingly in the girls race, setting school and course records with a time of 17:48.97. Phoebe Dowty was third, Brooke Ulerick fifth, Alivia White seventh and Cloe Leap 11th for the Braves.

On the boys side, Luke Neibert, Noah Greenwood and Jackson Neibert took second through fourth individually, with Henry Fleetwood sixth and Lukas Hogan eighth.

Grizzly Cubs finish second

Franklin’s girls were second among 13 teams at the Plainfield Relays, finishing behind only No. 16 Westfield. The tandem of Kathleen Lacy and Lauren Klem was third overall, Hannah Lindsay and Ava Ott were 10th and Ainsley Botkin and Emma Small were 13th.

Whiteland’s boys were sixth as a team, led by an 11th-place effort from Nolan Edens and William Watson; the Warrior girls were seventh, with Tori Jackson and Isabella Fuentes teaming up to finish fourth.
