Events postponed, canceled due to heat warning in Johnson County

As dangerous heat envelopes Central Indiana, several local organizations have announced hour changes, postponements and closures.

An Excessive Heat Warning remains in effect until 12 a.m. Friday for Johnson and surrounding counties. Heat index values up to 110 degrees are expected, according to the National Weather Service.

Here’s a list of organizations that have had to change hours, or postpone or cancel events:

Bargersville Farmer’s Market

The Bargersville Farmer’s Market is canceled today due to the high temperatures, officials posted on Facebook.

Johnson County Recycling District

The Johnson County Recycling District’s recycling center will close early at 1 p.m. today, and will be completely closed on Thursday. Friday’s hours are to be determined, and officials will post a social media update on Friday’s hours sometime on Thursday, they said.

City of Franklin

MEETING: Thursday’s meeting of the Franklin Tree Advisory Board has been canceled. It has not yet been rescheduled.

CONCERT: The No Fences concert originally set for Friday evening at the DriveHubler.com Amphitheater at Youngs Creek Park has been postponed until Sept. 29.
