College notebook: Scott again contributing to Taylor’s volleyball success

Taylor volleyball player Sarah Scott finished the team’s four matches at the Milligan Mountain Madness tournament in Tennessee with 36 kills and eight digs. That included 15 kills in a four-set triumph against Coastal Carolina for the sophomore outside hitter, a Whiteland product.

Center Grove

Junior middle blocker Grace Boggess helped the Butler volleyball team open with three victories at its own Bulldog Brawl, totaling 20 kills and two digs. Nine of those kills came in a four-set win against Fresno State.

Junior defensive specialist Rylie McMahen had four digs in a loss at Wyoming, and two in a loss against South Dakota State.

Sophomore outside hitter Katie Egenolf finished with 12 kills, three digs and an assist over the course of three matches for Ball State at the Cardinals’ own tournament.

Wisconsin prevailed in both matches at the Big Ten/Big 12 Challenge, with senior setter Madison Hammill accounting for 16 assists and four digs against No. 15 Baylor, and 16 assists and six digs against TCU. The Badgers won at Arkansas in five sets, with Hammill providing 22 assists and 11 digs.

Greenwood

Freshman Mya Ayro made her college volleyball debut for Connecticut as the Huskies won one of three matches in a tournament at Georgia. She finished with a total of 16 kills, including 10 in the team’s five-set defeat of Western Carolina.

Franklin

IUPUI senior setter Brooke Phillips helped the volleyball squad open the season with a 2-1 record at the Bradley Invitational, contributing a total of 32 digs and six service aces.

Jacksonville sophomore hitter Cami Kelsay played in all three matches at the San Jose State/Santa Clara tourney, providing her team two kills in the final match, a loss against San Jose State.

Sophomore defender Mollie Hill attempted one shot on goal for NAIA No. 2 Marian women’s soccer in a 4-0 victory at IU-Kokomo.
