Edinburgh football stumbles at South Decatur

A rough start, much of it self-inflicted, was too much for Edinburgh to overcome on Friday night.

Penalties — about 100 yards worth of those in the first half — and a formidable South Decatur team doomed the Lancers to a 52-14 road loss.

The Cougars (2-1) stormed out to a 31-0 halftime lead and coasted from there.

Edinburgh (0-3) got on the board in the third period with a touchdown pass from Caleb Murphy to Connor Ramey. That pair connected again in the fourth period to account for the final Lancers touchdown.

“We get to go back at it and that’s what we’ve got to do,” Edinburgh coach Tyler DeSpain said after the loss. “Forget about last week, move onto next week and just try to get better.”
