Here’s what’s going on with I-69 this week

Most work on the Interstate 69 project this week is slated for Marion County.

On Interstate 465, workers have constructed the first half of the fly-over bridge that will take drivers from I-69 northbound to I-465 westbound. The Mann Road to eastbound I-465 interchange is expected to be closed through mid-October as workers continue to construct retaining walls and make improvements to Thompson Road. Nightly single-lane closures are expected on I-465 between Kentucky Avenue and U.S. 31, according to a weekly construction update from the Indiana Department of Transportation.

On the southwest side of Indianapolis, Belmont Avenue south of Banta Road is scheduled to close in late September so workers can repave the roadway starting at Banta Road and moving south. Banta Road under the future I-69 will close next month. Both closures are expected to last until mid-to-late October, INDOT officials say.

In Johnson County, the right turn lane in the roundabout from eastbound County Road 144 to Waverly Park Road is restricted until later this week as workers finish a curb island. Drivers are advised to be cautious traveling on State Road 37 north of State Road 144 as workers replace the concrete barrier that separated the north and south lanes with construction barrels, INDOT officials say.
