Most work on the Interstate 69 project this week is slated for Marion County, with some closures expected as soon as Wednesday and this weekend.

Road closures will begin along Southbound Belmont Avenue from Banta Road to the Lighthouse Landing Apartments entrance on or after Sunday though mid-October for pavement removal and replacement. During this time, drivers needing to access the apartment complex will need to use the Banta Road entrance on the north side of the complex, according to a weekly construction update from the Indiana Department of Transportation.

Starting on or after Oct. 1, east and westbound Banta Road will also be closed through mid-October as crews lower Banta Road under future I-69. INDOT officials say local traffic north of Banta Road will need to proceed north to Epler Road on Belmont Avenue during this time.

Crews will be working to reopen both roads as soon as possible, but construction times may be affected by weather or other conditions, INDOT officials say.

On Interstate 465, the traffic switch on Southport Road over State Road 37 is set to take place next week. Crews currently are constructing the new multi-purpose path on the north side of Southport Road, according to INDOT.

Further east, the northbound U.S. 31 ramp to eastbound I-465 may be closed as soon as Wednesday for noise barrier work. Updates on times and durations will be forthcoming, according to INDOT.

Right-of-way fence removal and replacement will continue for the next few weeks along I-465 west of Mann Road. The gap between removal and replacement is anticipated to be approximately one week, INDOT officials say.

Additionally, Mann Road to eastbound I-465 is expected to be closed through mid-October as crews continue to construct I-465 retaining walls along Thompson Road.

Nighttime single lane closures are also possible on I-465 between Kentucky Avenue and U.S. 31 next week. These closures will be a mile or less each at various locations for maintenance and structure installation work, INDOT officials say.

Elsewhere, permanent striping operations will take place on northbound and southbound I-69 from Morgan Street to the Henderson Ford interchange in Morgan County. INDOT officials ask drivers to watch for crews and use caution as they travel through the area.

In Johnson County, the permanent concrete island at the State Road 144 interchange is now complete. Drivers traveling along State Road 37 north of State Road 144 should use extra caution as the concrete barrier that separated the north and southbound lanes has been replaced with construction barrels, according to INDOT.
