Voter registration deadline is Oct. 10

Election Day is fast approaching and the deadline to register to vote is approaching faster.

Hoosiers have until Oct. 10 to register to vote in the municipal election on Nov. 7. Under Indiana law, legal adults who are U.S. citizens are eligible to vote as long as they meet certain criteria.

To register, a resident must:

  • be a U.S. citizen and an Indiana resident;
  • have resided in their voting precinct at least 30 days before the next election;
  • be at least 18 years old on the day of the election;
  • not currently be in prison after being convicted of a crime.

Residents can go online to register at indianavoters.in.gov. Johnson County residents can also register in person by visiting the county voter registration office at the Johnson County Courthouse, 5 E. Jefferson St., Franklin, or any license branch.

Those who are already registered are encouraged to check their registrations before voting at indianavoters.in.gov.

The deadline for absentee ballot applications is noon on Oct. 26. Voters can apply online at indianavoters.in.gov or in person at Johnson County Voter Registration.
