Robert David Adams

NASHVILLE, INDIANA

Robert David Adams “Pops” was born March 20, 1947. He fought a good fight against lung cancer. He said he was tired and ready to go home. Robert was with loved ones and friends when he took his journey home on September 23, 2023.

Robert worked doing many things throughout his life. He was an over the road truck driver, worked in concrete and paving, a heavy equipment operator and was a mechanic all his life. He was the owner of Adams Standard for years which also had a connecting motorcycle shop.

Those who knew him knew that he did not like to stay in one place for too long. He was always busy and on-the-go, off to the next Waffle House or Huddle House.

Robert loved racing, especially drag racing. He owned and drag raced several cars, trucks, and motorcycles throughout his lifetime. He had a love for guns as well. Yet the passion of riding his motorcycle led him to be a snowbird, living in Indiana till cold weather arrived and then in Georgia during the winter months.

Robert was born in London, Kentucky to James “Emmett” Adams and Thelma Glenna Felts, who both preceded him in death. Siblings who preceded him in death were Ernest Ray Adams, Marjorie “Sue” Taylor, Ruth Elizabeth Hodge, Erich Marvin Adams, and Janet Denise Lilly Suratt.

Robert is survived by siblings Jerry Wayne (Brenda) Adams, Norris Long “Jr” and Judy Jane Stahl; daughters Glenna Jean (Kevin) Board and D.D. (Gary) Turner; his “number 1 son” Robert (Jennifer) Long; 4 granddaughters, 1 grandson, 4 great-granddaughters, several nephews, and nieces. As well as his angel here on Earth Ellen Heusman (Bobby Newkirk).

Per his wishes there will be no funeral. In the Spring of 2024, there will be a Memorial Ride with a gathering of family and friends to celebrate his life.
