Roncalli football shut out at Louisville Male

If there was a silver lining from Roncalli’s loss to Brebeuf Jesuit last week, it was the emergence of a passing attack in the second half.

That did not carry over into this week, as the Royals’ offense came up empty across the board in a 43-0 setback at Louisville Male.

Roncalli (3-4) picked up 11 first downs on the night, including seven on the ground, but couldn’t string enough together to get all the way down the field. The visitors totaled just 161 yards on 45 offensive plays, rushing for 92 yards and passing for 69.

Ben Brandenburg rushed for 53 yards to lead the Royals’ ground game; Charlie Elsener caught five passes for 55 yards.

The Royals host Cathedral next Friday.
