Girls soccer

Cougars fall against Eagles

Greenwood Christian saw its season end with a 9-0 loss at Class A No. 3 Heritage Christian in sectional semifinal play on Thursday. Goalkeeper Kylie Clark made several saves in a losing effort for the Cougars (4-9-1).

Sectional matches postponed

Consistent rain on Thursday afternoon forced the postponement of several sectional semifinal matches to tonight. In Class 3A, Center Grove will play host Bloomington South at 8 p.m. while Whiteland will face Roncalli at Break-O-Day Elementary at that same time.

Sichting, Volz eliminated

Indian Creek’s No. 1 doubles team of Landon Sichting and Trent Volz took their sectional championship match to three sets on Thursday at the UIndy indoor courts before falling to Shelbyville’s Karson Schaf and Aiden Smith, 1-6, 6-4, 6-3.

Grizzly Cubs sweep Bull Dogs

Franklin took care of a potential sectional foe on Thursday, cruising to a 25-11, 25-18, 25-20 road win over Columbus North in its regular-season finale. The Grizzly Cubs (20-8) will host East Central in a first-round sectional match next Thursday evening.
