Martha Ann Robertson Johnson, 74, of Summerville, South Carolina, wife of Robert Joseph Johnson, passed away Saturday, September 30, 2023 in Summerville.
Known as Marti to many of her friends and Mattie to her grandchildren, Marti was born Friday, April 1, 1949 in Indianapolis, Indiana, a daughter of Lawrence and Jean (Allen) Robertson. She graduated from Center Grove High School in 1967 and started her teaching career in Edinburg, Indiana in 1972. Marti enjoyed music, traveling, cheering on the Indiana Hoosiers and Clemson Tigers, but mostly spending time with her family and friends. She was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church in Summerville for 40 years and greatly involved with Stephen Ministries. Marty worked as an elementary school guidance counselor in Dorchester County, SC, for 25 years before retiring.
Survivors include her husband, Robert Joseph Johnson of Summerville, SC, and her sons, Dr. Gregory Johnson (Jeanne) of Greenville, SC and Mark Johnson (Lindsey) of Winter Garden, FL, Sister, Barbara Lombardo (John), Franklin, IN. Also, she is survived by six grandchildren, whom she adored.
A memorial service to honor Marti’s life will take place at Bethany United Methodist Church, 118 W 3rd South St, Summerville, on October 14th, 2023 at 11am, with a reception to follow.
