It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sharon M. Johnson, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, who departed this world on October 4, 2023, at the age of 83. She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and a zest for life that will forever be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Born in Beech Grove in 1940, Sharon grew up in a close-knit family that instilled in her a deep sense of adventure and a love for exploring the world. Throughout her long and fulfilling life, travel was her passion, and she had a remarkable knack for making the most of every destination. Her favorite pastime was wintering in the sunny paradise of Florida, where she could be found basking in the warmth, enjoying the beautiful beaches, and making lifelong friends.

But Sharon’s love for adventure didn’t stop with her travels. She was an avid outdoors enthusiast who found immense joy in cooking out with family and friends. Her gatherings were filled with the tantalizing aroma of grilled delicacies and the sound of laughter that echoed through the backyard. These moments created lasting memories for all fortunate enough to attend.

Another of her cherished pastimes was working on intricate puzzles, a hobby that showcased her sharp intellect and determination. Sharon had a unique talent for piecing together even the most complex jigsaw puzzles, a skill that she shared with her loved ones, creating bonds that transcended mere games.

In her quieter moments, Sharon found solace in the pages of romance novels. Her love for reading was undeniable, and she often immersed herself in the pages of a captivating love story, a sentiment that reflected her own capacity for love and affection.

As a dedicated member of the Eagles Lodge in Beech Grove, IN, and the Moose Lodge in Sarasota, FL, Sharon was known for her community spirit and her willingness to lend a helping hand. She treasured the camaraderie of her fellow lodge members and worked tirelessly to support various charitable endeavors.

Above all, Sharon will be remembered for her warmth, her generosity, and her unwavering love for her family. She is survived by her son Tim Johnson, brother Phillip Jackson, and a host of family and friends who will miss her dearly.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents Milford &Edith, husband Charles Johnson, and siblings William and Larry Jackson.

A private family committal will take place at Washington Park East where she will be laid to rest with Charles. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions be made to the Shriners Children’s Hospital. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her, and her adventurous spirit will continue to inspire us all.
