Nancy Clayton

FRANKLIN

Nancy Louise Clayton, Born January 12, 1939. She fought a painful battle with rheumatoid arthritis for years until Covid 19 virus overwhelmed her. She moved beyond her mortal pain to be with her Lord in eternal peace, passing October 5, 2023.

She graduated from Liberty High School, Bethlehem, Pennsylvania where she was honored to be chosen to sing with her exceptional soprano voice with the Fred Waring and The Pennsylvanians orchestra, a well-known band of the time. She moved on to Syracuse University, earning her BSRN degree, singing in the University Chorale and meeting the love of her life, Lonnie Clayton. They married in 1961 and started their long career of traveling the country in 11 different states following Lonnie’s upward moves in business. Nancy worked in all their cities at hospitals as teacher, supervisor, attending nurse while following her hobby of singing. She joined the Sweet Adelines in these cities, singing over 30 years, enhancing the quality of the chorales and churches she sang with. Nancy loved to camp out and spent years with the family camping in Canada. One amazing trip took her and family circumventing Lake Superior, finding wonders of the “north country”. Nancy loved holidays and always decorated the house, inside and out. She delighted in flowers and watching birds around our feeders.

Nancy traveled round the world with her husband to enchanting places like Portugal, England, Scotland, and several European countries. The best trip was a barefoot Windjammer sailing trip in the Caribbean to little known exotic islands. When Nancy retired with her husband in 1999 they spent a month in New Zealand, followed by a week in Tahiti. They topped it off a few years later by some time in Australia.

Nancy is predeceased by her Mom &Dad, Arthur Sr., and Muriel Mack and only sibling Arthur Jr. She is survived by her devastated husband of 63 years, children Russell (wife Melissa, son Eli-11), Todd (wife Julie, two adult daughters Haley, Emma), Leslie (twin sons Kyle, Ethan- in college).
