DELAY: Olive Branch Road to close Thursday for culvert project

UPDATE 2:43 P.M. THURSDAY

The road is now expected to reopen at 5 p.m. Friday rather than noon. An unexpected problem was encountered during construction and that will delay the reopening of the road by a few hours, the highway department announced today.

A portion of Olive Branch Road will be closed for one day for a culvert replacement.

The Johnson County Highway Department will close the road at 7:30 a.m. Thursday from Runyon Road to Morgantown Road. Weather permitting, the road will be open again by Friday at noon, according to a public advisory message from the highway department.

The project is to replace the culvert pipe that runs underneath Olive Branch Road. The road will be closed to all traffic at the culvert location, which is approximately 250 feet west of Runyon Road, officials say.

Through traffic should use Runyon Road, Smith Valley Road and Morgantown Road to bypass the road closure.
