GREENWOOD
C. Duane O’Neal, age 73, of Greenwood, Indiana, passed away suddenly at home on October 8, 2023. He was born on March 10, 1950, in Indianapolis to Chlois D and Rosalie O’Neal. Duane was a graduate of Lawrence Central High School. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Indiana University, where he was a member of Beta Theta Pi fraternity; an MBA from Indiana University, Indianapolis; and a law degree from IU School of Law, Indianapolis.
Duane worked for Lewis &Kappes law firm for about 25 years, retiring in 2012. He served as a replacement judge for Greenwood City Court for a short time. He was a member of the Greenwood Plan Commission for several years. He was especially proud of being a founding member of the Greenwood Community Band and of being instrumental in the development of the Greenwood Amphitheater. He was a member of Southport Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder. He also also took pride in dedicating himself to swimming at LA Fitness six days a week.
Duane is survived by his wife of 49 years Roberta (Bobbi); his children Amy O’Neal and Chris (Jaime) O’Neal; his grandchildren Hunter and Holden Montgomery, Eva Picalomino and Colson O’Neal; and his brother Dwight (Patty) O’Neal. He loved his family very much and enjoyed numerous wonderful vacations with them. He also loved traveling and celebrating with his many friends. The Christmas season was his favorite time of year.
Visitation with family will be from 10 A.M. – 12 P.M. on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at G. H. Hermann Greenwood Funeral Home, 1605 S State Road 135, Greenwood, with a memorial service beginning at noon.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
