Three seriously injured in rural Greenwood crash

The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office has released more information about a two-vehicle accident in rural Greenwood.

The driver of one of the vehicles, 42-year-old Indianapolis resident Sukhwinder Singh, died from his injuries at Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital in Indianapolis, according to the sheriff’s office.

The other driver, who was also injured in the accident, told deputies they saw Singh driving north on Five Points Road when he lost control of his vehicle and swerved into the southbound lane where the other driver was. Singh’s car hit the other driver head-on, according to a sheriff’s office report.

Deputies say the speedometer on Singh’s vehicle was struck on about 65 mph. Their investigation also matched up with what the other driver said as to the chain of events and the cause of the accident.

Three people were seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash on Five Points Road in rural Greenwood.

Johnson County deputies responded to the crash at approximately 7:02 p.m. Thursday in the 700 block of North Five Points Road, approximately a half mile south of County Line Road.

Deputies and fire personnel located three injured subjects who were extricated and transported to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis with serious injuries, according to a statement on the crash from Chief Deputy Andrew Barnhart.

A photo of the accident scene indicates both vehicles involved were dark colored.

At this time, the cause of the crash is still under investigation and the roadway was still closed, as of approximately 9 p.m. There is no initial suspicion of intoxication, Barnhart said.

Names of the subjects involved and updated conditions will be released when available and when any necessary notifications have been made, he said.
