College notebook: Ruppert makes 13 stops in Wabash victory

Sophomore linebacker Gavin Ruppert, a Greenwood graduate, led the Wabash football team in tackles with 13 in a 45-35 win over the College of Wooster.

Greenwood

Senior Joy Maze had 14 kills, 11 digs and an assist to lead Manchester volleyball to a 3-0 sweep over visiting Defiance.

Wheeling sophomore Melia Gorrell finished with a total of 23 digs as the team recorded 3-0 home wins over Notre Dame College (Ohio) and Slippery Rock.

Kentucky Christian volleyball lost in four sets to Tennessee Wesleyan despite the 17 digs of defensive specialist Anna Cruser. The team then lost in three sets to Bryan, with Cruser providing 16 digs.

Center Grove

Hillsdale College defensive back Matt Soderdahl had a team-high 12 tackles, broke up two passes and forced a fumble in a 35-21 loss to Tiffin.

Freshman receiver Owen Wright had two catches, including one for a touchdown, as Franklin College won at Anderson, 36-28.

Freshman Nolan Foley had five punts for a 34-yard average, including a 55-yarder, in Indiana Wesleyan’s 42-17 win at Taylor.

Junior defensive lineman Lucas Hunter made three tackles for Indiana State in its 27-20 home loss to Northern Iowa.

Sophomore defensive end Austin Booker had four tackles, including two for loss, and forced a fumble in Kansas’s 51-22 defeat of visiting UCF.

Butler linebacker Brayton Spetter recorded three tackles in the team’s 17-10 loss at St. Thomas.

Eckerd College volleyball won in three sets over Nova Southeastern University and Palm Beach Atlantic. Junior Ashley Eck totaled 23 digs and eight assists over the two matches.

Winthrop junior defensive specialist Rylie McMahen had 17 digs in the team’s five-set victory over Charleston Southern, and seven more in the Eagles’ win against Presbyterian.

Setter Madison Hammill had 16 assists and 12 digs as No. 1 Wisconsin volleyball improved to 15-0 with a win at Illinois.

Grace Boggess had eight kills and two digs as Butler defeated visiting Seton Hall in four sets. The junior had eight more kills as the Bulldogs lost a 3-0 decision to St. John’s.

Franklin College men’s soccer came up short at Bluffton, 2-1, with senior goalkeeper Ian Rowe making seven saves.

UIndy senior Gabrielle Harrell ran a time of 19:47.80 for 140th place overall at the UAH Charger Invite.

Freshman Sage Parsetich shot a 163 over two rounds to tie for 16th individually as the Indiana Wesleyan women’s golf squad won the Saints Classic at Holy Cross.

UIndy men’s golf placed sixth out of 18 teams in the Midwest Regional at Missouri-St. Louis, with sophomore Drew Rowen’s three-round score of 233 tied for 45th individually.

Junior Brandon Heffner helped Marian take fourth out of 15 teams at the Memphis Shootout, carding scores of 81, 77 and 76.

Whiteland

Southern Indiana men’s tennis opened its fall season at the Brian Coons Memorial, with junior Quinten Gillespie posting a 2-1 record in singles and going 1-2 in doubles play.

Freshman running back Peyton Emberton carried the ball six times for 13 yards for the St. Mary-of-the-Woods sprint football team in its 56-50 double-overtime loss to Bellarmine.

Aquinas College women’s swimming defeated Olivet ,with freshman Amelia Edens setting a new school record in the 200 individual medley (2 minutes, 16.13 seconds) and swimming on the record-setting 200 medley relay (1:55.58).

Sophomore outside hitter Sarah Scott produced 12 kills and two digs in Taylor volleyball’s home loss to Columbia (Missouri) and 13 kills and three digs in the Trojans’ win over St. Francis (Illinois).

Senior Zach Ricketts tied for 66th individually with a three-round sum of 243 as Franklin College men’s golf finished 12th at the Wabash Fall Invite.

Anderson freshman golfer Hannah Emenhiser tied for 40th individually with a two-round 189 at the John Carroll Fall Invitational.

Sophomore Braxton Christie shot a three-round score of 229 as Franklin College men’s golf placed 12th at the Wabash Fall Invite.

Franklin

Marian’s 41-0 football triumph at Madonna included senior tight end Drew Byerly making one catch for 13 yards.

Butler junior golfer Damon Dickey fired a three-round score of 219, tying for 39th place, at the Purdue Fall Invitational.

Junior Ellie Beavins helped Taylor women’s golf take fourth at the nine-team Saints Classic Invitational with a two-round total of 172.

IUPUI senior setter Brooke Phillips helped the volleyball squad down Robert Morris, 3-0, with eight digs and six assists. Her 23 digs helped the Jaguars win over Youngstown State in five sets.

Edinburgh

Redshirt freshman receiver Riley Palmeter had a 4-yard catch for Marian in a 41-0 win at Madonna.

Roncalli
