GCA football drops season finale in Michigan

Greenwood Christian’s first full season of varsity competition might not have concluded with a win, but the Cougars did achieve a winning record.

The team put a lid on the 2023 season by traveling to White Pigeon (Michigan) to face an undefeated squad just a short distance north of the state line.

White Pigeon won, 72-6. GCA’s lone touchdown came on a short run by junior Evan McIntyre.

And though the result might not have been in GCA’s favor, the Cougars still finished with a 5-4 record.

“I’m super proud of the team for that,” Greenwood Christian coach Andre Dobson said. “A winning season was a goal of ours, and a lot of programs can’t say that in their first full season of varsity football.

“We lose eight valuable seniors. The majority of our kids are now sophomores, and I’m excited about their maturity. Overall, when we look at the big picture, man, we accomplished a lot.”
