Here’s what’s going on with I-69 the week of Oct. 17

Active construction will continue for the Interstate 69 project, though crews are approaching the end of work for this year.

By Thanksgiving, most of the planned construction for the year will be complete, along with some new openings and closings. Crews will continue to work during the winter months as weather permits but overall construction and traffic impacts should decrease noticeably, according to an Indiana Department of Transportation project update.

Until then, motorists should still expect ongoing traffic changes and be patient as crews work to wrap up this construction season.

In Marion County, crews wrapped up the noise barrier work on the ramp from northbound U.S. 31 to eastbound Interstate 465 over the weekend. But crews will need another night or two to install lighting fixtures. These closure dates haven’t been determined, according to INDOT.

Banta Road, which has been closed at State Road 37, is expected to reopen later this week. Additionally, the eastbound ramp from Mann Road to I-465 is expected to open at the end of the month, INDOT officials say.

There will also be nighttime single-lane closures on I-465 between Kentucky Avenue and U.S. 31 this week. These closures will be at various locations for maintenance and structure installation work, according to INDOT.

In Johnson County, a single northbound lane closure on State Road 37 will be in place under the State Road 144 bridge until the end of November to allow crews to finish mainline paving in the area. The ramp from northbound State 37 to Smith Valley Road is anticipated to be open by late October, INDOT says.
