SCARY PRAIRIE, 3-8 p.m. Oct. 27, Johnson County Public Library Trafalgar branch, 424 S. Tower Dr.

The Johnson County Public Library has planned spooks and fun for people of all ages during this Halloween themed event. Everything starts with a carnival featuring food, games and crafts. Kids can go trick-or-treating on the library branch’s prairie, while older attendees can find frights inside a chilling haunted house stuffed full of Stephen King’s most terrifying characters.

HALLOWEEN PARADE, 5 p.m. Oct. 28, Old Town Greenwood

One of Greenwood’s newest, and most well-attended, traditions combines the devilish fun of Halloween with the excitement of an old-fashioned parade. Don your most creative costume and line the streets for a parade of trick-or-treating as community groups entertain the crowds as they pass by. The procession will start at Craig Park, go north on Washington Street, east on Main Street and south on Madison Avenue before curving along East Surina Way back to the park.
