Whiteland Elementary School will have an interim principal for the forseeable future.
Bethany Guilfoy was named interim principal at Whiteland Elementary School following a 4-0 vote with one abstention during Tuesday’s Clark-Pleasant school board meeting. Butch Zike, Guilfoy’s father, serves on the school board and abstained from approving her hire.
Guilfoy replaces Brent Schmidt, who left the position to join another school corporation.
“Knowing that the transition time was very short, I knew that Mrs. Guilfoy has been our most veteran and experienced assistant principal within this corporation,” Superintendent Tim Edsell said. “She is an alumni. She has strong leadership skills and understands the elementary perspective within our system. She is very excited to be the interim principal at Whiteland Elementary. She has already been getting acclimated to how things are done at the elementary and she is getting to know the students and the staff.”
Guilfoy was one of two staff announcements made during Tuesday’s meeting. Duke Lines, Whiteland Community High School’s interim principal, was officially named the school’s permanent new principal as well. Read more about Lines here.
