‘Touch, try, buy;’ Black Friday deals are back

Black Friday shopping sprees make their return Friday as businesses prepare for the highest foot traffic of the year.

With the looming holiday season, nearly every store is set to offer limited-time deals on their merchandise in an attempt to entice antsy shoppers to stroll through their doors. Here’s a snapshot of some of the upcoming specials retailers are offering Black Friday shoppers this year.

Local malls

The Greenwood Park Mall will open at 6 a.m. Friday. The mall expects to see millions of footsteps throughout the weekend, said Tiffany Adkins, director of marketing at the mall.

“A lot of our retailers here do anywhere from 40% to 70% off on Black Friday,” said Adkins. “No matter where you go, you are going to get some sort of sale. There were some studies that came out that said 75% of people will take advantage of Black Friday sales. A lot of people like to do their research online first and then come into the stores, which is a cool concept.

“We like to use the motto ‘Touch, try, buy.’ You can literally come into the stores, touch the product, try it on and buy it. When you’re online, it may not fit or feel like the description says,” she said.

Adkins said that one of the highest trending holiday purchases tend to be gift cards, which can be purchased at multiple displays throughout the mall and at the mall office.

Santa Claus will also make an appearance beginning at 11 a.m. Friday.

The Indiana Premium Outlets in Edinburgh will be open on Black Friday from 6 a.m. until 9 p.m. with many of their outlet stores offering special deals.
