Boys basketball

Cougars get past Twisters

Greenwood Christian was a 66-60 winner at Oldenburg Academy on Saturday. Max Booher had 23 points and Noah Reed 19 for the Cougars (2-0), with Jordan Taulman chipping in 10.

Franklin falls against Millers

Despite 20 points from Micah Davis, Franklin fell short at Noblesville by a 61-40 score. Wyatt Nickleson added 12 points for the Grizzly Cubs (1-1).

Braves earn OT win at Brownsburg

Lauren Foster scored six of her 19 points in overtime to help Class 3A No. 2 Indian Creek to a 67-62 triumph at Brownsburg on Saturday. Ayla Lollar added 18 points for the Braves (5-2), with Faith Wiseman contributing 14 points and 11 rebounds.

Warriors squeak past Dragons

Gwen Higdon scored 22 points as Whiteland pulled out a narrow 59-58 home win over New Palestine. The Warriors (3-4) also got 12 points from Samantha Roadruck, 10 from Sukhman Bains and eight from Addison Emberton.

Grizzly Cubs shoot down Falcons

Franklin built a 28-point lead in the first quarter and cruised to a 77-26 win over Perry Meridian. Erica Buening scored 16 points to lead the Grizzly Cubs (7-2, 1-0 Mid-State), followed by Scarlett Kimbrell with 13 and Emma Sappenfield with 11.

Trojans sweep Quakers

Center Grove easily took both sides of its dual meet against Plainfield on Saturday, with the boys taking a 128-57 win and the girls coming out on top by a 113-73 count. The Trojan boys claimed all three relays and got individual victories from Henry Lyness (200 freestyle, 100 backstroke), Isaac Lewis (200 IM, 100 breaststroke), Anthony Cuadros (50 and 100 free), Mason Bridges (100 butterfly) and Max Hite (500 free). The girls took the two freestyle relays and also got first-place efforts from Lara Phipps (100 and 200 free), Addyson Matern (50 and 500 free), Karlie Dodd (100 fly, 100 breast) and Megan McIntyre (diving).

Men’s basketball tops Dominican

Franklin College built a 20-point lead and held on for a 77-68 win at Dominican (Illinois) on Saturday. Ryan Bostic led the way with 21 points and eight rebounds for the Grizzlies (2-3), who also got 11 points from Braden Flanagan, 10 from Cody Samples and eight from Dylan Beverly.
