Wayne L. Baker

BARGERSVILLE, IN

Wayne L. Baker, 89 of Bargersville, IN passed away Monday, November 20, 2023, at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born November 6, 1934, in Indianapolis, IN to Arville T. Baker and Margie (King) Baker. Wayne was married to his wife, Wanda (Haltom) Baker, for 63 years. She survives.

Wayne was a 1953 graduate of Southport High School.

He was a United States Marine Corps Veteran and served 8 years in the Indiana National Guard with the rank of Lance Corporal as a military policeman.

He was a member of The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union in Indianapolis for 35 years retiring in 1990 as an electrical foreman.

Wayne was a member of Southport Masonic Lodge #270 and the Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis. He attended Fair Haven Christian Church in Franklin.

He loved building and fixing things, working in the woods, spending time in the outdoors and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife Wanda E. (Haltom) Baker of Bargersville, IN, his son Jeff Baker (Beverly Stout) of Martinsville, IN, his daughter Cindy Baker, DVM (Matt O’Dell) of Martinsville, IN, two grandchildren Joshua Baker of Tennessee and Megan Ann Heady (Cole) of Muncie, IN, his sister Joann Demaree of Franklin, IN, a sister-in-law Doris Baker of Greenwood, IN and his dog Heidi.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Robert Baker and James Baker, a sister Janie Baker, a brother- in- law Oren Demaree and a sister- in-law Rosie Baker.

Pastor Brian Clark will conduct a service on Monday November 27, 2023, at 2:30 PM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN and will be live-streamed at www.swartzmortuary.com. Friends may call Monday, November 27, 2023, from 12:30PM until service time at the mortuary. A private family graveside service will follow the service at Odd Fellows Cemetery near Waverly with the United States Marine Corps Honor Guard conducting military honors.
