WHITELAND
Charles B. Wheeler, 85, passed away Wednesday afternoon, November 22, 2023. He was a resident of Whiteland.
He was born December 20, 1937 in Franklin, IN to Jerry and Bessie Berry Wheeler. He married Sharon “Sam” Asbury on September 6, 1975 in Indianapolis. Survivors include his wife, Sharon “Sam” Wheeler of Whiteland; son, Charles “Chuck” (Barbara) Wheeler of Greenwood; three daughters, Mylissa McCoy of Indianapolis, Sandra J. Shearer of Trafalgar, and Michaelle (Stuart) Smith of Decatur, MS; fourteen grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Tami Hendrix; brother, William “Bill” Mason Wheeler; and a sister, Kay Wheeler.
Charlie was a veteran of the U.S Navy, and served on the U.S.S. Acadia.
He was a member of Tabernacle Christian Church in Franklin. His memberships also included Prospect Masonic Lodge #714 F. &A.M., Indianapolis Valley of the Scottish Rite, and Murat Shrine.
Charlie was employed as a fork lift operator for 31 years at Ford Motor Corporation in Indianapolis. He later was a realtor for Jim Williams Realty. He also worked for 18 years as a Funeral Service Associate at Wilson St.Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory in Greenwood.
Visitation will take place from 3-7PM, Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at Wilson St.Pierre Funeral Service &Crematory, 481 W. Main Street, Greenwood. A Masonic Service will follow at 7PM at the funeral home.
Rev. Diana Thompson will officiate a funeral service at 11AM, Thursday, November 30, 2023 at Tabernacle Christian Church, 198 W. South Street, Franklin. Burial with military honors will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery, Franklin.
