Still time to donate to Franklin Police, Greenwood Fire toy drives

Local public safety agencies are in need of donations as they hold toy drives for families in need.

Franklin

The Franklin Police Department has extended its toy drive until Dec. 11, citing an increased number of applications. It is the department’s sixth-annual toy drive, in partnership with ToodleyDoo Toys and the Franklin Fire Department.

Donors can drop off new, unwrapped toys and clothing for families in need. Donations can be dropped off at four locations:

  • Franklin Police Department, 2801 N. Morton St.
  • ToodleyDoo Toys, 1 W. Jefferson St.
  • Franklin Fire Station 22, 1800 Thornburg Lane
  • Franklin Fire Station 23, 1150 Sloan Drive

Those wanting to fill out a form to be a recipient, or nominate someone else to be a recipient, can pick up forms at Toodleydoo Toys or the Franklin Police Department. They can also contact Franklin Police Chief Kirby Cochran by emailing [email protected] or by calling 317-346-1101.

An online version of the form is also posted on the Daily Journal’s website at bit.ly/fpd-toy-drive-2023.

Interest forms are due to FPD by 4 p.m. Dec. 6.

Greenwood

The Greenwood Fire Department is also hosting its annual toy drive.

Until Dec. 21, the public can drop off new and unwrapped items at any Greenwood fire station:

  • Station 91, 155 E. Main St.
  • Station 92, 1244 W. Fry Road
  • Station 93, 1090 W. Cutsinger Road
  • Station 94, 755 N. Graham Road

Department officials said that none of the groups they support will accept toys that depict a weapon of any kind. This includes Nerf guns, plastic swords and bow and arrows.
