Lee C. Waltz

(September 16, 1935 – December 1, 2023)

Lee C. Waltz, 88, of Bloomington, IN, passed away at his residence, Holiday Redbud Hills. Born to Floyd Waltz and Lela Compton in Edinburgh, IN. He married Jeannine Miller on September 11, 1955, who predeceased him, along with his parents. Lee is survived by his five children: Dr. Kevin Waltz (Rhonda), Karen Rankin, Kent Waltz (Charlotte), Kathi Cummings (Randy), and Kamala Blevins (Teddy).

He leaves behind nine grandchildren: Stephen McDonald, Andrew Rankin (Danielle), Lyssa Henry (Jared), Zachary Waltz, Zoe Waltz (Ben), Deanna Schuyler (Brian), Stephanie Fansler (J.W.), Dustin Pridemore, and Ethan Pridemore (Brianne) and 14 great-grandchildren, all cherished favorites. Lee is also survived by a brother-in-law, James Miller, and is preceded by two sisters-in-law, Anna Mae Cox and Bonnie Miller, as well as a brother-in-law, Charlie Cox.

Lee attended primary school in Edinburgh, IN, and graduated from Indiana University Bloomington in 1957 with a bachelor’s degree in physics. A dedicated, life-long, civil service employee, he retired as the Director of Small Arms from Crane Naval Weapons Support Center in Dec 1990. Post-retirement, Lee and Jeannine embraced adventure, living on a houseboat and in a 5th wheel. They spent winters in Florida at St. George’s Island, were members of the Salt Creek Power Squadron, and shared a passion for dancing as members of the Ragtime society.

After Jeannine’s passing, Lee continued his lifelong passion for gardening and became an active member of the Redbud Hills community. He ran the community store, served as an ambassador to new residents, and built friendships through his involvement in various activities. Lee’s zest for life inspired others to participate, creating a lasting impact on the community he called home.

A funeral service will be conducted by Pastor Jim Hudson at 3:00 PM on Wednesday December 6, 2023 at Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home in Edinburgh, Indiana. Calling will be form 1:00 PM until time of service. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh, Indiana.
