Three Greenwood residents sentenced for involvement in drug trafficking

Three Greenwood residents have been sentenced for their roles in trafficking hundreds of thousands of fentanyl pills and methamphetamine.

In the last four months, Deondre “Dre” Perry, George Muncy and Rhonda Muncy have all pled guilty to federal charges for their roles in what prosecutors say was a drug trafficking conspiracy. The trio is among six Greenwood-area residents who were charged by the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana last year.

Federal prosecutors allege that Perry and the Muncys, along with Elijah Conn, Brooke Woods and Brittina “Tina” Jones, were part of a drug trafficking organization, along with Brittina “Tina” Jones, 43, of Indianapolis, from Spring 2021 through June 2, 2022, according to court documents. Everyone named has been criminally charged.

The goal of the operation was to distribute 100 grams of a substance containing traces of fentanyl and at least 400 grams of fentanyl itself, court documents show.

The drug trafficking organization allegedly distributed the fentanyl-containing drugs in the Indianapolis metropolitan area. Perry was allegedly the leader of the operation, and supervised the distribution with assistance from Woods, who he lived with, court documents say.

As part of the conspiracy, Conn, Jones, George Muncy and Rhonda Muncy all allegedly received the drugs and helped distribute them. Conn, also known as “Whiteboy Eli,” allegedly sold the pills to customers on his own, and also did so at the direction of Perry, U.S. Attorneys allege.

Perry is the most recent of the group to be sentenced. He pled guilty on Nov. 30 on charges of conspiracy to distribute fentanyl, possession with intent to distribute 100 grams or more of a fentanyl analog and carrying a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking.

He was sentenced to 420 months, or 35 years, in federal prison. Whenever he is released from prison, he will spend five years on supervised release, also known as probation. In exchange for the guilty plea, the indictment and superseding indictments for Perry were dismissed, online court records show.

George Muncy pled guilty on Oct. 4 to unlawful use of a cell phone, with federal prosecutors dismissing a charge of conspiracy to distribute fentanyl. He was given 18 months, or 1.5 years, in prison, online court records show. Once George Muncy is released from prison, he will be on probation for a year.

His wife, Rhonda Muncy, pled guilty on Sept. 14 to conspiracy to distribute fentanyl, receiving a sentence of 72 months, or 6 years. She will be on probation for two years once she is released from prison, online court records show.

Conn and Woods, who are both charged with conspiracy to distribute fentanyl, intend to plead guilty to the charges. A plea and sentencing hearing for Conn is set for Jan. 10, 2024, while Woods’ is set for the following day on Jan. 11, according to online court records.

The case against Jones, who is facing the same charge as Conn and Woods, is ongoing. A jury trial is currently set for February 2024.
