Donations needed for United Way of Johnson County Christmas Angel store

The United Way of Johnson County is in need of help from the community for its annual Christmas Angels program.

The Christmas Angels program is designed to provide gifts for Johnson County children — newborn to 17 years old — who would otherwise not have Christmas gifts. Sponsors had the option to buy gifts for an entire family, or donate toys and other items.

Children who did not receive a sponsor are typically invited to come to the Christmas Angel Tree Store in mid-December to pick out gifts for the holidays.

Donors are needed to provide additional gifts for the store — particularly for teens.

Among the items recommended for teenage boys are: chemistry sets, headphones, skateboards, video games, footballs, basketballs, body wash, shave kits, and gift cards from places such as Kohls, Best Buy, Dicks Sporting Goods, Old Navy, Marshalls, Barnes & Noble, iTunes, McDonalds and Five Below.

Items recommended for teenage girls are: headphones, art supplies, CDs from current artists such as Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez and Adele, passes to the Franklin Skate Club, lotions and perfumes, jewelry, video games and gift cards from places such as Kohls, Maurices, Best Buy, Forever 21, Dicks Sporting Goods, Old Navy, Barnes & Noble, iTunes, McDonalds and Five Below.

Items can be dropped off at the United Way offices, 594 Ironwood Drive, Franklin. Donations need to be dropped off by Dec. 12.
