Boys basketball

Cougars knock off No. 2 Saints

Class A No. 5 Greenwood Christian used a balanced offensive effort to claim a 55-47 home win over second-ranked Indianapolis Lutheran on Saturday evening. Noah Reed led the Cougars (5-1) with 14 points, while Max Booher and Ben Comerford scored 11 each and Jordan Taulman added nine. Taulman grabbed nine rebounds and Booher eight.

Grizzly Cubs survive Olympians

Wyatt Nickleson scored 11 points, including a late 3-pointer that helped Franklin hold off a late Columbus East comeback bid and secure a 53-46 road win on Saturday night. Micah Davis led the Grizzly Cubs (5-1) with 20 points, Ryder Street scored nine and Kolt Nelson added six points and a team-high eight rebounds.

Trojans fall to Warriors

Center Grove suffered a 60-44 setback against Warren Central in the Tip Off Classic at Southport on Saturday. Joey Schmitz led the Trojans (3-3) with 21 points, followed by Will Spellman with 11 and Jalen Bundy with eight.

Girls basketball

Whiteland picks up home win

Sophia Dyer’s 20 points helped power Whiteland past visiting Martinsville, 50-36, on Saturday afternoon. Gwen Higdon and Carly VonDielingen added 13 and 10 points, respectively, for the Warriors (4-7, 1-2 Mid-State).

Lancers fall against Milan

Edinburgh dropped a 50-35 home tilt with Milan on Saturday. Bella Turner paced the Lancers (1-10) with 13 points, while Kenna Streeval chipped in with eight.
