Two teens arrested in connection to Greenwood homicide

Two juveniles were booked early this morning in connection with the Sunday homicide of Ethan J. David, 18, of Indianapolis.

Greenwood Police say the suspects are a 17-year-old male and a 15-year-old female. Quincy D. Stringer Jr., 17, of Greenwood is identified on the Johnson County jail bookings from this morning as he was waived up to adult court, however, the female’s identity is not being released due to her age.

Stringer was booked by Greenwood Police on a preliminary charge of murder just after midnight. The bookings say he and the female are both being held at the juvenile detention center.

The identity of the female cannot be released until charges are filed due to her age, said Lance Hamner, Johnson County prosecutor. Booking photos of the teens are also not being released for this reason, he said.

Greenwood Police did not release more information about the homicide Wednesday morning but said they are confident in the detective work that led to the two arrests, said Matt Fillenwarth, assistant chief.

The shooting occurred in the 2000 block of Liberty Way Drive in the city’s Central Park neighborhood around 7 p.m. Sunday. This neighborhood is located immediately west of Grassy Creek Elementary School.

In the initial call, a neighbor reported hearing a gunshot and then saw two people running from a car. One male was found dead in the car, Fillenwarth said Monday.

Greenwood Police spent the past few days gathering evidence and are now working with the prosecutor’s office ahead of filing charges, Fillenwarth said.

The prosecutor’s office is now building a case and will release more information to the public when possible, Hamner said.
