College notebook: Beverly helps lead Grizzlies to win over Earlham

Freshman center Dylan Beverly scored 11 points and had two assists, two steals and two blocked shots for the Franklin College men’s basketball team in an 80-75 defeat of visiting Earlham. The former Franklin Community High School player leads the Grizzlies in blocks this season with 15.

Franklin

Marian freshman Brooke Coffman was third in the high jump and was part of the second-place 4×400 relay as the Knights competed in the John Gartland Invite indoor track and field meet.

Radford women’s basketball lost to Virginia Tech, 85-40, though sophomore guard Ashlyn Traylor-Walker did have 16 points and five rebounds in the setback.

Huntington guard Kyra Baker had seven points, four rebounds and four steals in the team’s 89-21 victory over Grace Christian.

Center Grove

Indiana junior Taylor Jarosinski tied for sixth in the pole vault at the Indiana Early Bird indoor track and field meet, clearing a height of 12 feet, 1½ inches.

Makensie Kramer of Ball State ran a time of 9.42 second to finish sixth in the 60-meter hurdles at the Tom Wright Open at Bowling Green.

Indiana State distance runner Parker Mimbela placed sixth in the 3,000-meter run at the John Gartland Invite indoor track and field meet in a time of 9 minutes, 22.47 seconds. Freshman teammate Parker Doyle ran a time of 8.36 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles in his ISU debut.

Vermont guard Emma Utterback finished with eight points, three rebounds and an assist in the women’s basketball team’s 53-43 loss at Manhattan.

Senior guard Claire Rake scored 14 points and grabbed four rebounds for Truman State in an 82-63 loss at Upper Iowa.

Indiana Wesleyan guard Marcus Ankney scored 10 points, made two steals and had a pair of assists in the men’s basketball team’s 98-83 decision over visiting IU East.

Whiteland

Bowling Green graduate student Reagan Emberton placed second in both the shot put and weight throw as the Falcons hosted the Tom Wright Open, an indoor track and field meet. Ball State freshman Brooklyn Taylor placed sixth in the shot put.

Manchester freshman guard Austin Willoughby supplied a five-point, four-rebound effort in the men’s basketball team’s 77-76 overtime loss at Transylvania.

Greenwood

Center Gavin Dowling scored five points, grabbed three rebounds and was credited with an assist as Anderson men’s basketball downed Bluffton, 83-63.
