Diving

Taylor, Clark win county titles

Indian Creek’s Ella Taylor and Franklin’s Austin Clark each squeaked out a narrow victory in the 1-meter diving portion of the annual Johnson County meet, which was held at Center Grove on Friday evening.

Trailing close behind Indian Creek’s Skyler Jasper for most of the night in the boys competition, Clark pulled ahead on his 11th and final dive and closed with a score of 405.80 to edge Jasper’s 393.35. Whiteland’s Noah Grady placed third with a total of 340.45.

In a battle of returning state medalists on the girls side, Taylor finished with a total of 445.15 to hold off fellow senior Camy Quiggins of Franklin (438.65) for the girls crown. Braves freshman Kendall Guernsey was third at 364.90.

The swimming events will take place this morning, also at Center Grove.

Braves dominate Mustangs

Faith Wiseman flirted with a triple-double, totaling 13 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists as Class 3A No. 4 Indian Creek cruised to a 78-35 home win over Edgewood on Friday evening. Ayla Lollar scored 16 points on perfect 6-of-6 shooting and added six steals for the Braves (10-2, 4-0 WIC), who also got a team-high 18 points from Lauren Foster and 12 from Lexi Sichting.

Grizzly Cubs throttle Hornets

Wyatt Nickleson’s 26 points led the way as Franklin rolled past visiting Beech Grove on Friday, 78-28. The Grizzly Cubs (6-1) also got 14 points from Micah Davis and 13 from Kolt Nelson.
