Franklin Police investigating McDonald’s parking lot robbery

An investigation is underway following an early Friday morning robbery at a McDonald’s in Franklin.

Franklin Police were called to McDonald’s, 2080 E. King St., around 1:25 a.m. Friday on a report of a robbery. Multiple people were robbed at gunpoint in the restaurant’s parking lot, said Kirby Cochran, police chief.

Preliminarily, police say a small black car occupied by potentially two to three Black males and one white male pulled into the parking lot. One of the black males exited the car and pointed a gun at a woman and other people with her, demanding their possessions.

Purses, phones and wallets were taken during the robbery, Cochran said.

No one was injured, he said.

The man with the gun was dressed in all black, wearing gloves and a mask. He had “very long” dreadlocks, specifically longer than shoulder-length hair, Cochran said.

Police were told the men got into an SUV and the vehicle sped off toward Interstate 65, Cochran said.

The suspect vehicle is described as a small dark-colored SUV, possibly an INFINITI. Detectives are working on trying to find the SUV and obtain license plate information, he said.
