Rosemary Cox Noel

FRANKLIN

Rosemary Cox Noel, a much-loved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, passed in a fatal automobile accident in Greenwood, Indiana while en route to visit her husband of 58 years in his care home. Affectionately known as Rose or Nana, she was 78 years old.

Rose was born on January 13, 1945 to James Acey Cox and Edith Mae (Armentraut Lewis) Cox in Wyoming County, West Virginia. The youngest of six, Rose grew up in a mining family, one which instilled values of hard work, family, and faith. Rose relied on those values as she raised two children, Dr. Rebecca (Becky) Noel and Donald Jeffrey (Jeff) Noel while serving as a minister’s wife.

A life-long lover of antiquing, her daughter and granddaughter benefited from her enthusiasm for well-worn items. She was a keen decorator and gardener, who also enjoyed her daily conversations with the family chickens, cats, and dogs. Her legacy lives on through her children and grandchildren.

Rose is survived by her husband, Jerry Donald Noel, her daughter and son, and two much loved grandchildren, Jasmine Noel and Brodie Noel. Preceded in death by her sister and three brothers, Rose is also survived by William (Bill) Lewis of Pineville, West Virginia, along with nephews, nieces and cousins.

A private family funeral was held on December 9, 2023 at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory-Greenwood Chapel, followed by cremation. Rose will rest with other family in the Elizabethtown, Kentucky City Cemetery.
