Aerial gunnery training to be held Thursday at Camp Atterbury

If you hear gunfire and see planes flying around Camp Atterbury on Thursday, know it is just a drill.

Camp Atterbury will be hosting an AC-130J Ghostrider aerial gunnery training that day from noon to 6 p.m.

Officials announced the training on Camp Atterbury’s Facebook page last week to raise awareness. The public should not call 911 or be alarmed at the exercise.

During the training, Indiana National Guard troops will be flying AC-130J Ghostriders and making 45 degree banks around Camp Atterbury. The practice will also include firing a 105mm howitzer and a 30mm minigun from the air.
