Kay Browning Whitton

CAPE CORAL, FLORIDA

Kay Whitton, age 87, of Cape Coral, Florida, passed away on December 26, 2023. She was born on September 10, 1936, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to the late John and Edna Browning. Kay lived life unapologetically in her 87 years. Her work was important to her as she worked in family businesses (Meridian Drive-In Theater, Browning Orchards, and Orchard Golf Center). She was an assistant to a Florida state representative, and an assistant to a Florida college president. She traveled the world with her husband, Colonel Roy P. Whitton, who preceded her in death.

Kay is survived by her loving daughters, Candy McCarty of Cape Coral, Florida, Cally Stockton (Ken) of Ft. Collins, Colorado, and Christy Rosson (Dennis) of Boaz, Alabama. She also leaves behind six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Kay obtained her education from Center Grove Primary School, Center Grove High School, and Indiana Business College. She was a woman of faith and worshiped at Mt Auburn United Methodist Church in Greenwood, Indiana, Community Church of God in Lake Placid, Florida, and the Chapel at Gulf Coast Village in Cape Coral.

An interment service for Roy and Kay Whitton will be held at Sarasota National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to Guide Dogs for the Blind in Kay’s memory.

The Neptune Society of Ft Myers, Florida is assisting the family with the arrangements.
