North Dakota woman arrested for failing to pay $23K in child support

North Dakota police arrested a woman wanted for failing to pay thousands of dollars in child support in Johnson County.

Raquel J. Johnson, 42, of Bottineau, North Dakota, was taken into custody on a felony Johnson County warrant for nonsupport of a dependent, a Level 6 Felony. Johnson owes $23,475 in back child support, according to a probable cause affidavit filed on Dec. 14.

Johnson County Prosecutor’s Office Investigator Joseph Wertzberger collaborated with deputies of the Bottineau County Sheriff’s Office to track down and apprehend Johnson in Bottineau County, according to a news release from the Johnson County Prosecutor’s Office.

She will be extradited back to Johnson County by the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office to face the pending charges in Johnson Superior Court 2, the news release says.

“I want our citizens to be confident knowing that parents who owe child support will pay,” said Lance Hamner, Johnson County prosecutor. “And if they take off, they will be found and brought back. With the help of the dedicated men and women of the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office we will go to the ends of the earth to track down people who don’t support their kids.”
