Two adults injured following collision with school bus near Franklin

Injuries were reported following a collision between passenger cars and a Franklin school bus Thursday morning.

The crash occurred at 7:46 a.m. in the 2700 block of U.S. 31, which is between Franklin and Amity.

At the time of the accident, the Franklin Community School Corp. bus was stopped on U.S. 31 to pick up a child. A silver car was stopped behind the bus when the driver said she was “violently rear-ended” by a blue SUV, according to a crash report by Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.

The SUV hit the stopped car at a “high rate of speed,” which caused the car to go into the ditch and come to rest in the nearby driveway. The SUV rear-ended the bus, the report says.

A witness and two of the drivers said the bus had its stop sign and lights activated, while the SUV driver said he didn’t notice the bus or the car was stopped, the report says.

The bus driver reported the student she had just picked up hadn’t even had the chance to find their seat when the accident occurred. However, no children were injured, the report says.

The car and SUV drivers were both transported with complaints of pain, the report says.
