Grizzly Cubs second at Mid-State

Host Franklin finished second to Perry Meridian at the Mid-State Conference championships on Saturday, scoring 229 points to the Falcons’ 261. Aiden Woods (106 pounds), Owen Trimpe (144) and Kellen Fellure (215) all placed first in their respective weight classes for the Grizzly Cubs. Greenwood, led by 126-pound champ Keagan Murray, was sixth with 105 points, while Whiteland was seventh with 100.

Braves pick up OT victory

Faith Wiseman’s 20 points and 15 rebounds helped power Class 3A No. 5 Indian Creek to a 60-55 overtime win at Westfield on Saturday. Lauren Foster added 17 points, six rebounds and six assists for the Braves (15-4), who also got seven points and 11 boards from Lexi Sichting.

Lancers fall to Morristown

Edinburgh dropped a 52-41 contest against Morristown on Saturday. Bella Turner led the Lancers (3-16) with 16 points, while Kenna Streeval scored eight and Kyah Streeval added seven.

Men’s basketball rallies past Defiance

Jessie Morgan Jr. poured in a career-best 28 points as Franklin College earned an 81-74 comeback win at Defiance on Saturday. Cody Samples and Ryan Bostic added 12 points apiece for the Grizzlies (8-7, 6-2 HCAC), who trailed by as many as 14 points before storming back.

Women’s basketball cruises to road win

Jordan Coon’s 19 points paced four players in double figures as Franklin College pulled away for a 76-48 victory at winless Defiance on Saturday. The Grizzlies (10-5, 5-3 HCAC) also got 14 points from Taylor Cooney, 13 from Payton Seay and 11 from Lauren Barker.
