Woodmen sweep Shelbyville

Greenwood took both sides of Tuesday’s dual meet with Shelbyville, winning the boys meet by a 92-64 score and the girls by a 100-56 margin. The Woodmen girls got wins from Ryann Marker (200 free, 100 fly) and Hailey Peckinpaugh (200 IM, 500 free) while also claiming the medley and 400 free relays. The boys won the 200-yard medley and freestyle relays while also getting individual victories from Emmanuel Jackson (50 freestyle, 100 butterfly), Jackson Simms (200 individual medley), Ben Wehnert (500 free) and David Brenton (100 backstroke).

Warriors split with Marauders

Whiteland’s girls earned a 70-59 home win over Mt. Vernon on Tuesday, while the boys were defeated by a 73-47 score. The Warrior girls got first-place finishes from Mallory Fields in the 100-yard butterfly and backstroke as well as Kate Barnes in the 200 freestyle. For the boys, Chase Cooper (200 freestyle) and Davis Dwyer (100 free) were event winners.

Lancers fall against Cougars

Edinburgh suffered a 46-19 defeat at South Decatur on Tuesday. Kenna Streeval scored seven points in a losing effort for the Lancers (3-17).

Hasseman to be honored Saturday

Former Franklin coach Bob Hasseman will be honored on Saturday during the Bob Hasseman Classic, as the school’s fieldhouse will be dedicated and officially renamed Hasseman Fieldhouse in his honor. During his lengthy tenure with the Grizzly Cubs, Hasseman’s teams won 11 regional title and won the 2013 IHSWCA State Duals championship. He coached 48 state qualifiers, including 26 medalists and four individual champs. Hasseman was inducted into the IHSWCA Hall of Fame in 2017.

Admission to the meet, which begins at 9 a.m., is $10; cash or card are accepted.
