Aspire hosting cybersecurity breakfast for businesses

Local businesses can learn more about protecting themselves from cyber attacks at a chamber breakfast.

Aspire Johnson County is hosting its first Business Basics Breakfast on Jan. 30, discussing cybersecurity and protection for businesses. The breakfast will take place from 8 to 10 a.m. in the Branigin Room at Franklin College’s Napolitan Student Center, 253 S. Forsythe St.

Justin Kinney, director of security and compliance at JPtheGeek, will be shining a light on the critical role cybersecurity plays in safeguarding small businesses, emphasizing the importance of preparedness for cyberattacks and exploring the benefits of cyber insurance in fortifying businesses’ digital resilience, according to Aspire.

Also present will be Brian Culp, a certified insurance counselor and MBA, who specializes in advising businesses. He has spent the last five years partnering with IT companies to educate their customers on the need for cyber insurance, chamber officials say.

The agenda is as follows:

  • 8-8:30 a.m.: Registration and networking
  • 8:30-9 a.m.: Buffet breakfast
  • 9-10 a.m.: Presentation

Pre-registration is required and ends at 5 p.m. Jan. 24. Aspire member registration costs $35, non-members $45, presenting sponsor $1,000 and business builder sponsor $250.
