A Greensburg man has ended his bid for the GOP nomination for Indiana’s 6th Congressional District after two days.
The Indiana Election Division on Thursday received a request from Nathan R. Swain to withdraw his candidacy for the GOP nomination, though the form was dated Tuesday, the same day he filed to run.
The filing does not say why Swain decided to end his bid.
The U.S. House seat is open this year after three-term incumbent Rep. Greg Pence, R-Ind., announced that he will not seek reelection.
The district includes parts of Bartholomew, Johnson, Shelby and Hancock counties and southern portions of Indianapolis.
State Rep. Mike Speedy, R-Indianapolis, has filed to run for the GOP nomination for the seat, and Cynthia “Cinde” Wirth has filed to run for the Democratic nomination.
Candidate filing ends Feb. 9, according to the Indiana Election Division. Indiana’s primary will be held May 7.
